UAE-headquartered offshore drilling contractor Shelf Drilling has secured a contract extension for one of its jack-up rigs for operations offshore Egypt.

Shelf Drilling revealed on Thursday, 9 February 2023, that it had received a one-year contract extension for the Rig 141 jack-up rig in direct continuation of its current term with Gemsa Petroleum Company (Gempetco) for operations in the Gulf of Suez, offshore Egypt.

While no financial details were disclosed at this point, the UAE-based player did explain that the availability of this rig is now anticipated in February 2024.

The 1982-built Rig 141 is a 250-foot jack-up drilling rig of Marathon LeTourneau 82-SD-C design. It can accommodate up to 100 people.

This contract extension comes after the UAE-based company got another contract extension offshore Eqypt in January 2023 and won a three-year deal with ONGC off India and a contract extension with Chevron’s subsidiary in Angola.
