Israeli fighter jets have bombed the international airport in Yemen’s capital Sanaa and several ports in the Red Sea.
Israel Defence Forces (IDF) stated that it conducted strikes on what it claimed were ‘military targets belonging to the Houthi terrorist regime’ on Yemen’s western coast and on several locations further inland.
The IDF struck alleged military infrastructure used by the Houthi in both the Sanaa International Airport and the Hezyaz and Ras Kanatib power stations.
Israeli forces also hit targets in the Al-Hudaydah, Salif, and Ras Kanatib ports on the western coast of Yemen.
The IDF said the military targets were used by the Houthi regime ‘to smuggle Iranian weapons into the region and for the entry of senior Iranian officials’.
The attack by the Israeli Air Force is in response to a Houthi missile strike on Tel Aviv over the weekend. A Houthi military spokesman said the group hit a ‘military target’ using a hypersonic ballistic missile while the Israelis claimed the missile hit ‘a public park’.
Israel’s emergency medical service said that 16 people were treated for mild injuries from glass shards from shattered windows in nearby buildings. Another 14 people who suffered minor injuries on their way to protected areas were also treated.
