Greek owner Evalend Shipping has been linked to a fresh newbuilding deal in South Korea, this time for a pair of suezmax tankers.

Shipbuilding sources report that the Kriton Lendoudis-led company has contracted 157,000 dwt units at HD Hyundai Samho for delivery in the first half of 2027.

HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE), the intermediate holding company of HD Hyundai, said each ship is worth around $89.5m.

Shipbuilding databases list Evalend with more than 30 newbuilding projects, the majority of which are energy carrier vessels set to join the fleet of over 50 ships, with more than half currently being bulk carriers.

The Athens-based company recently took delivery of two Hyundai Samho-built suezmaxes ordered in April 2023 for a reported price of $85.26m each.

Suezmax orders this year have mostly came from Greek owners, all booked at South Korean shipyards.
